What is the Weekend Meals for Children program?

The "Weekend Meals for Children" program, our new initiative that started in 2024, is geared towards raising funds independently of the CACFP. The goal is to offer nutritious meals and snacks to children every Saturday and Sunday, 52 weeks annually. The ultimate focus will be on the 6410 children we currently serve Monday through Friday, and then extending our support into additional children and surrounding communities in the most poverty stricken zip codes in PA. Our initial focus will be the Northeast and North Philadelphia sections of PA.

How it works?

The funding will be utilized to purchase necessary products for packaging weekend meals and snacks. It will also support staff involved in assembling these packages and drivers responsible for delivering them to childcare centers every Friday for distribution to children.

Our first fundraising goal is $$1,000,000.
How much is your fundraising target?

Our first fundraising goal is $920,920.

This amount will serve:

  • 6410 children 52 weeks annually
  • Every Saturday and Sunday from July through June
  • Covering breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack for each child at an estimated cost of $1.50 per child (operational and administration)
  • 2.62 lbs of food per child, 5.25 lbs per child each weekend
Ways to help?

Your support can take various forms, providing crucial assistance to ensure nutritious meals for children. Here are some impactful ways to help:
